About the role and importance of the local councils elections ,The Co-President of the Commission of Municipalities and Environment in Al-Jazera Canton Joseph Lahdou said: “These elections have a historical importance and it’s sensitive because it will prove the ability of the people to manage themselves in a democratic way which is compatible with the thought of the democratic nation, this thought calls all components of different nationalities and religions to participate in order to form a social fabric that could not be disassembled.
And about the establishment of local administrations Lahdou added: “Initially, service committees are formed which were small groups working to provide services to citizens , after the declaration and establishment of democratic self-administration in 2014, bodies and institutions were formed , the Commission of Municipalities and Environment was one of these committees to provide services for people such as roads and sanitation and basic materials such as water, bread and …., after that the primary elections for local councils and municipalities was held in 2015 at its first electoral phase , but now in the second phase in which the elections of local councils are held at the level of towns and regions , these elections is a basic and important step to a free and democratic future .
He also called on all citizens to participate and gave their votes to those who deserve it .
